Ben Parrish sang the national anthems at many union conventions over a span of five decades!

Our former president and founder, Ben Parrish, achieved unsurpassed experience in the bereavement tribute market. Beginning in 1958, Ben began the relationships throughout North America that amount to thousands of devoted United Memorial customers. Ben forged our strong commitment to:

  • superior customer service.
  • superior quality products.
  • an unswerving loyalty to provide the only union-made memorial operation that plays by all the rules.

These are the enduring principles that led him to form United Memorial. Thousands in the labor movement remember Ben both at convention exhibits and also as the one who often sang the national anthems to open their conventions.

Today you often see Todd Parrish, Ben's son, at convention exhibits. Todd is also honored to continue the tradition of singing the national anthems at many conventions! He officially began working with the company in 2001, after an extensive career in development, marketing, public relations, and radio broadcasting. Todd's experience with the Memorial Bible program goes back to his earliest memories, growing up with the company and often helping Ben at convention exhibits through the years.

Another face many of you will remember from conventions is Tom Williams. Before joining United Memorial in 1986, Tom was an employee of the Chrysler Corporation in Indiana for 30 years. While there, he served as Financial Secretary of his local union, UAW 685 in Kokomo, Indiana, for three consecutive terms. Tom was then a dedicated employee of our business for 19 years.

...to extend this important program across North America by providing our customers a high level of consistently prompt and reliable service that will merit their continuing trust and patronage.
